View Full Version : Syringes

Ok so this my cats tek that she used to make some syringes from a apore
print from her first mushroom she ever grew.

First off she picked the mushroom, cut the cap off with a sterilized knife,
then laid it down on a few layers of tinfoil swabbed with alchohal and then
a 2oz shot glass swabbed in alchohal went over top. 2 days later a nice
thick dark ring was udnerneath the cap. I removed the shot glass, folded
the print in half then put it into a ziploc bag.

Materials needed for process:

coffee cup
small plate
spring water
pre-sterlized syringes
sterlized sharp edge
microwave
spore print
oven

Ok so my cat started out with putting the spring water into the coffee cup,
then placed the small plate on top of the coffee cup and put it in the
microwave on high for 5 mins (Put more water into the cup then is needed
for the syringes as alot of it will boil over and out of the cup). Wait
for the cup (still covered in microwave) to cool until room tempurature or
cooler.(Putting it in the freezer might work...but i was unsure of contams
so i did not) Do not lift off the plate until you absolutley have to. Next
fire up your oven to like 160degrees, or just a bit higher then your lowest
setting. From what my cat has gathered, this creates and updraft to work
with which allows very few contams to fall into your water while it is
uncovered (hot air rises and all the stuff). Now pull one of the racks out
so you can place your materials on them and have a work space....bare in
mind people that your oven does have to be relativley clean for this to
work. Now take your spore print out of the bag and open it up with your
hands that have been cleaned with alchohal and proceed to take the lid off
of the coffee cup and scrape some of the spore print into the water till
you have a good amount of spore floating around. Then cover with the plate
and twirl the glass to evenley distribute the spores (some sterlized peices
of glass may help to break the spores up more). Then unwrap your sterlized
syringes and suck up the water...keeping the needle away from the sides of
the cup of course. Recap and voila! Tape around the bottom of the cap to
keep contams out.

That is the exact tek my cat used the other day to make her spore
syringes....so far we have yet to see any growth in the dogfood/polymer
crystal jars she did up, but we are hopeful. Any critisism of this idea
would be greatly appreciated, and if it is just going to all out fail
please let me know what i did wrong....also if you think it is a good idea,
praise is something every cat enjoys! ;)

Thanks

Molly

All I do to make spore syringes is scrap some spores from a print into
a sterlized glass cup, then use sterlized water in my sterlized spore
syringe. ALl I do to sterlize is put water in the glass, boil it in
the microwave for like 5 minutes, then suck it up into the syringe,
squirt it out in the sink. do this a couple of times and then the last
time keep the water in the syringe. Let it cool for a few days, and
then use that to make your spore syringes.

Here's the best way I know to make syringes. It's done using a wine
glass, the perfect vessel for such a chore because of its shape.

I like the look of this method for making syringes without taking a
print first..

I tried it the other day by putting enough water in the jar for 5
syringes and then PCing it the next time I did some grain jars. It
took a few days longer for the spores to drop compared to doing a
print, but now have a jar of nice purpley water ready to be sucked up
:)
