Hey all.

Well, over the past few months (!!!) I've been trying to grow some mushrooms. It took soo fucking long for the cakes to colonise, and when the first one finally did I foolishly decided to case it hoping for a better yield - it just ended up contaminated, and for some reason the rice grain germinated, even with being sterilised and then infected with mycelium O_o. Anyway, for the second cake I simply did it as it is in a simple seedling tray + lid as the fruiting chamber. Well it's been nearly 3 weeks I reckon, and I've finally got some nice looking mushrooms growing. It looks pretty promising. I'm going to stick another cake in there as soon as I can.

I was so proud when I saw those shrooms. It's covered in them! I never thought it would actually work, especially seeing as it took so damn long for the cakes to colonise.

How long did it take to colonize ? My B+ took about a month and a half to fully colonize. I noticed it was due to poor oxygen/CO2 ratio in the jar so I flipped them upside down and let a bit of air come in after they were mostly colonized. This was enough to fully colonize them.

I haven't tryed to fruit them yet. Soon, VERY soon :D

What was the average temperature where you made them colonize ? Was it a dark place too ?
