PESA Spawning compost?

Im looking to grow in trays instead of jars and I usually use rye grain.
My understanding is to put down a base layer, then a thin layer of
pre-spawned grain then about 1" of top followed by a small casing layer.
My question is what compost type material will work best for PESA's?

trays of this are way more productive and less work than pf jars
