Storage in honey is not a method to potentiate psilocybian mushrooms but a
way to ferment the psilocybin and the glucose into alcohol.

Forgive a newbie...but "alcohol"? As in, you can ferment the shrooms? Does
the psilocybin end up in the alcohol or does it change to alcohol??? I guess
my main question is...can you drink the "alcohol" and trip?

What happens is that cells&spores of yeast (which is an unicellular fungus)
most likely end up (or are already) in the honey. Then you add mushrooms,
which are 90 percent water. The water leaks out of the mushrooms & into the
honey. The honey becomes more and more dilute until there is enough water
for the the yeast spores to germinate and grow.

Being a fungus, the yeast's most favorite nutrients are drugs, especially
mushrooms. The yeast so converts the sugar of the honey and the
proteins&psilocybin of the mushrooms into carbon dioxyde and water. However,
yeasts are a group of fungi which possess an alternative respiration system.
If there is not enough oxygen (due to the lid of the jar being closed), they
can do without it and convert the nutrients into alcohol.

Dilute honey with water, inoculation with yeast followed by storage in the
absense of fresh air probably is the oldest known recipe for an alcoholic
drink (it is called mead)

So the psilocybin and the glucose are changed into alcohol by yeasts. You
can drink the alcohol to get drunk.

Thanks for the info, very informative (as "info" tends to be...). If I want
alcohol, I'll grab a beer...or a homebrew kit...but shrooms are too
expensive and precious to waste.

I’ve bought some mushrooms (el derrumbe) in honey. On my (car) trip they got with some bubbles inside. They are producing small amounts of gas every day. Can I still take them? What is the problem of taking mushrooms if they are fermented?

How can i stop it? Adding more honey?

Thanks a lot!!!
