HOW TO GROW CANNABIS,
CANNABIS IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME. Courtesy of

## NOTE only live (unsterilised) seeds will germinate, seeds from birdseed
(TRILL) and herbal remidies will not grow. Various strains/types of the
plant are available as seeds and have varying prices.
Seeds can be bought worldwide AND from 11 euros here --
http://www.sensiseeds.com/ml/shop.asp?MainLev=3&PluNr=227
Cannabis can be grown easily indoors, in compost and with normal electric
lighting. An airing cupboard or closet will be ideal. Specialist lighting
is available in grow shops but cheap 150 watt bulbs can be used and three
150 watt bulbs (making a total of 450 watts of lighting) in conjunction with
some mirrors will provide excellant results. Attention to temprature of the
growing room is important, and although I cannot supply temperature data at
the moment, tropical conditions should be maintained. A small space heater
may be required.
A large tub should be used for growing your cannabis plants. A 10 litre
paint tub containing 8 to 10 litres of compost should be ideal for planting,
but do not provide drainage holes (enabling more water to be retained and
for longer). Drying out at best causes massive leaf loss and at worst is
FATAL to your precious plant/s. You will find the plants drink a lot of
water once in adulthood and the lighting will cause even more drying out.
Regular watering will be required but do not soak the growing medium,
moisture content from damp to moist is sufficient.
Cannabis is the only annual plant that has separate male and female plants.
In its life cycle the plants will go through the following distinct stages:
germination, vegetative growth and flowering. About half the seeds you
germinate will become male and will be taken out of the garden (It is at the
beginning of the flowering stage that you will be able to determine whether
a plant is male or female). See diagram here
www.sensiseeds.com/ml/shop.asp?MainLev=9&nfoID=14.
During germination, the seed awakens from its inactivity. Moisture, water
and a constant temperature are essential here, for as soon as the seed has
absorbed a sufficient amount of water, the seedling begins to form its root
system. Next it breaks through its shell.
Pre-soaking
Put some moist tissue on a plate. Put the seeds on top of them and cover the
seeds again with moist tissue. Cover the plate with another upturned plate,
so that the seeds are in darkness and the environment remains moist. Put the
covered seeds in a warm place (21°C). Check the seeds every day, spray the
tissues with water if necessary to keep them moist but not soaked. Very
carefully transplant (preferably with tweezers) the seeds to a planting
medium as soon as they open and the tip of the root becomes visible.
1. Put the seeds on moist tissue.
2. Cover the plate with another upturned plate.
3. Put the covered seeds in a warm place and keep them moist.
4. The seeds will open and the root becomes visible.

Sowing in a planting medium
Place the seeds under the surface in the planting medium at approximately
the depth of the seed. Regularly spray the planting medium with water, but
make sure that the soil or rockwool does not become too wet. The seedling
uses the spare food present in the seed for growing so nutrient is
unnecessary at this stage. Air is very important for its metabolism. So make
sure that the soil remains sufficiently airy. One of the characteristics of
rockwool is that it retains plenty of air. Make sure that the rockwool is
not standing in water and that any excess water is able to drain away
properly.
1. Put the seed in a growth medium approx. 2-3 mm (max. 5 mm) under the
surface.
2. Keep the seeds warm and moist. In a propagator for example.
Young seedlings
The young plants are still very delicate. Therefore you should not place
them in direct sunlight or under a strong propagation lamp. This might
cause burning. Provide young plants with nutrient water with a low ec value
(1.2) (or any water) and add Sensi Boost® to strengthen the root system. If
seedlings become tall and unable to support their own weight and tilting use
a suitable training implement such as a piece of wire.
Outside growing
Although it is possible to germinate seeds directly in the ground, your
success rate will be considerably higher if you first germinate indoors.
From April to May the ground temperature is not yet ideal. Regularly put the
emerged seedlings in a place where they can get used to outdoor conditions,
i.e. on the balcony.
1. First germinate indoors.
2. Put the emerged seedlings in a place where they can get used to outdoor
conditions.
Organic or Hydroponics
There are two methods of growing your plants:
- Organic means growing your plants in soil. You'll use a planting mix that
is enriched with fertilisers (preferably organic fertilisers). This can be a
commercial mix intended for house plants. The roots will feed from nutrients
existing in the planting mix. In addition to this, a solution of water and
nutrients will be given to the plants during the vegetative growth and the
flowering stages. This will maintain healthy levels of nutrient in the soil.
- Growing hydroponically means you'll use a rooting medium (e.g. rockwool or
coco medium). Hydroponic rooting mediums hold no nutrients of their own. All
nutrients are added to the water and the roots will feed directly from this
nutrientwater solution.
Properly used, Rockwool is a fine germination environment for the seeds.
Peat tablets are ideal for starting seeds that will grow in soil. Keep the
seeds warm (21°C) and moist, i.e. in a propagator. Remove the cover as soon
as the seedlings sprout above the medium.
Male plants
Immature fowers of the male plant look like small balls hanging at the stem.
As they mature the small balls will open, showing five white petals
surrounded by the pollen-bearing stamen. It is before the flowers open that
male plants should be removed from the garden.
Female plants
The female flower has no petals but two stigmas growing from each ovary. The
stigmas are white, almost translucent antenna waiting to pick up pollen
(from the male plant) in the air. At the end of the flowering stage, the
stigmas will turn to a light brown colour. It's time to harvest when 80% of
the female plants in your garden show brown stigmas.
