Hey wats up i live in sarasota/bradenton area here in florida i love hunting for mushrooms i could give u some pointers. The ones i hunt are in cow fields there called Psilocybe cubensis they grow in or around cow shit. They have gold caps that fade to white, purple ring underneth the cap, purple spore print, and the stem turns blue when touched witch takes 10 secs to a couple mins.If u want to know how to take a spore print cut the stem off the mushroom place the cap on a white peice of paper let it sit for 1 hour take the mushroom off and there should purple spore print......now make sure know every aspect of the mushroom before eating it because there are poisonous mushies in florida if the print aint purple throw it out and know everything else about it.......Best time to look is the day after a good rains in cow pastures in tall grass and you can find them for several days after a good rain....remember be carefull and learn everything about it better safe than sorry

I am living in central florida near orlando, we normally could go on any given day after a good rain and pick a shopping bag full of the cubensis,
treasure coast and gulf coast varieties. however we have been in drought conditions so long. that the spores dont have enough moisture to spawn. we went for the first time last week and only found 5 coplandia's. we found No visible signs of any cubensis growth. its just too dry. I even went as far as spawning some spores on wild bird seed then inoculated a compost pile outback. the compost is full of mycellium but its still to dry for them to fruit. its just another bad year for hunting. good luck though your best chances are gowing hunting 24 to 48 hrs after a heavy rain.
we are going out again tommorro to try again. at least we know were the coplania's are.

i live in belleview/ocala and just started looking for feilds. If you can find any feilds try going around 5 or 6am. Me and a couple friends found a feild here 2 weeks ago and yeilded about 30 mushrooms.

Okay, I just arrived in St. Pete's and I've been backpacking south from Wisconsin. I'm dying to go hunting. This summer I had an awesome project, but I had to leave my babies behind. Any suggestions? I guess it's fall huh?
