hydroponic spray?

has anyone tried feeding nutrient rich solution on cakes too keep growth going? never grown mushrooms yet just curious if its feasible. the idea of only having them grow for 5 days then harvest kinda sucks... id like to have them perpetually growing if possible. probably get contaminated before too long... butttt, your thoughts please.

nutrients can be added to the cakes to keep growth going but eventually they will get contaminated do a search on it something about using dog food
