so i ordered spore syringes, and was suprised to see that the spore liquid was black (what is thta anyway? dye?). i followed the directions on erowid.org very closely,

anyway when i injected my first batch i had a bit of trouble because i kept getting the substrate into the needle (and i was drunk), and I accidentally injected way too much juice in a jar.

so its been a week or 2, and i was almost certain it was contaminated because there was a big black splotch in the jar. now its further along, and its seems like everything is white, and im wondering if its possible for the the good mycelium to take over the bad stuff, and if thats true if its still good, or if it was just dye from the syringe that kind of went away after the jar colonized.

also is anyone having this trouble where the syringe gets clogged with the substrate when injecting the jars? i tried to clear the blockage with a sterilized safety pin, but it would clog again as soon as i stick it back in. i was considering using a sterilized bicycle spoke to kind of clear out a section in the jar so the syringe doesnt get clogged. any better ideas?

Doing an inoculation drunk probably isn't such a good idea.
You need you're motor skills and wits when doing something
in a precise quick movement, all the while being sterile.

Jars with anything other than white strands and fluff are pretty much hopeless.
Toss 'em

This reply is a wee bit late I know, but, the black in your syringe was more than likely charcoal or carbon. It is common practice for some to add this to them. Some feel that it will aid in germination rate and success.

As for getting your sub stuck in the needle, you should always put your needle tip toward the wall of the jar, then gently glide down the inside from there and inject along the inner wall of the jar.

If you are still around you should post what has happened to this jar. Any success? Did it make it to fruiting? Hope this helps....
