can i use the manure sold at h. depot

home depot sells large bags of de-hydrated manure will this work for growing shrooms so far i've had one flush from one cake using pf tek and im not impressed to say the least i got only 3 small 2in. shrooms i got like 9 more cakes and i wanna break 1 up and put it in poo this is my first grow and i could really use some experienced help thanks

I have only seen a few people that have tried buying bagged composted manure at a store, most of them said that it didn't work out vary great. (Black Kow brand, is one i can think of at the top of my head that didn't work that good)

It would be cheaper, and easier to just buy coir, and follow a simple tek, there is one on this site that explains the basics. It's quite simple. Basically add brick of coir (you can get at any pet store, should say expandable coconut fiber) to some water until fully expanded then boil in a pillow case or jar at 140-170 degrees F (candy/meat thermometer is needed) for 30-45 minutes then let cool and use as you would H-Poo, it's only about 5 dollars a brick and a brick will expand to a lot of coir... Another thing if you use coir I would suggest you add worm castings, or spent coffee grounds for nitrogen for multiple flushes.

If you really want to use the bagged composted H-Poo I would shred it up and add straw then pasteurize at same temp and time stated above. Just to make it a little better, because it's straight horse poo, and most people that use H-poo for mushroom cultivation use composted h-poo mixed with straw. BTW I think this is posted in the wrong place.
