View Full Version : Going from personal to bulk cultivating
Continual Disappointment

So in the past I have been very successful with my cultivating venture. spending a lot of time in a little closet that I transformed into a growing space. through my long, drawn out learning experience, the first mistake that I made was building a "non-portable" growing chamber. That is spending a fortune on a supplies later to just be ripped out because we are renters not owners. So I recently decided to try refrigerators as "portable growing chambers" Just throw some nice casters on the bottom of one of those babies and blam "portable grow space" roll it out to the next rental, just very carefully! So anyways Im now using this method and im planning on making this a living and not just a hobbie so im speding some serious cash on this shit. So I have some questions to ask to the pros out there. 1. Is it better to do strain selecting on ager and petris or just spore syringe inoculating into sterilized jars? and does it make a big difference on potency in final product? and yes I too have blown myself up with lysol inside the glove box then went to sterilize my inoculating loop...BOOM and also almost cut my thumb off"one of my most recent accidents". So ive payed my dues throughout this trial and error learning process. However, I still believe that theirs many easier methods than whats just spoke of in the mushroom cultivator, and i want to know any pointers that can be given. Im very eager to learn secrets, systems, pointers or just plane help to assist me in my "bulking up" venture. Im all ears guys, let me have it!!! thank you, Continual Disappointment

The mushroom cultivator is a good book...however alot of things in it are outdated...
1. invest in a few little hepa air filter machines, there cheap and will save you some trouble in the long run, the filters are pricey for mine 2 for 25 bucks, but i only change them ones every few months and they are wonderful...
2. makes me not need a glove box...i do g2g and innoculations right out in the open infront of my hepa with the ionizer on, havent had much of any contams so far, just a few randoms here and there...
3. some people like agar, the benefits of it arent known to me at the moment as im still newbish at this too...I like g2g but you eventually do have to start with spores again, havent had anybody complain about potency and ive never herd of anything else being more potent because of being grown on agar...but I could be wrong
4....what in the lords name were you doing that you almost cut off your thumb?
anyway good luck man and dont give up!

From what I understand, if you innoculate a jar of rye seed, once colonized, you can use that jar to innoculate 10 more jars, and 10 jars will innoculate 100 jars. That is what I'm going for right now. Plus with rye or any other seed like millet bird seed, you can pour the seed out into trays wich seems to be a better way to go instead of growing from mason jar cakes. I just grew 10 jar cakes and they didn't seem to produce like I saw in other videos and such. But growing in trays with seed seems to look more promising. Good luck to you my mushroom head friend.
yes you can use g2g transfer but it's a lot of work to get bulk grows going...we don't promote growing mushies for sale here unless it is legal in your area :D
