Hey,
My friend and I are going to South Florida for spring break (Fort Meyers, FL). Can anyone give us tips on where to find any mushrooms? What they look like, where to find them, how to identify them, etc. We've looked on mushroom identification sites but we want to be sure. We will also probably take pictures of the shrooms we pick (if there is any) and post them on here to ask people if we should eat them or not. Thanks!

Imo, without personal experience in field hunting, you should either buy or check out the National Audubon Society - Field Guide to North American Mushrooms, it can be found at almost any library. It isn't a psilocybe dedicated book, but it has color prints, info on almost every species including psilocybes; like where to find, season, ect. It will definatly help you in making the decision on whether its the shroom you're looking for or not. Careful though, there are lots of look alikes, and many people have misidentified what they picked and suffered for it. The one sure way to identify is to take a spore print after picking the "suspected" and look at the color of the print. Even that's not entirely definite though either. Using a good microscope and slides of the spores are the best possible way to identify field mushrooms with out serious risk to newbie shroom hunters.
Good luck.
