Hey all, I have some terrarium's (terrarii?) set up with the perlite for humidity and holes in them for air circulation. The first one is pinning and I was wondering since I've heard water is the usual growth limiting factor whether it was advisable to water your cakes once in the terrarium or whether that would disturb them. I used the dunk and roll method and basically did everything according to "Let's Grow Mushrooms" and they have you watering with a spray bottle the cakes after placing them in the terrarium with wet perlite very heavily and then leaving them be. Would it be advantageous to water them again? Perhaps after the first fruiting? Or maybe when they are becoming used up? Thanks in advance.

casings dont require a sh** load of water, the use of a hydrometer will be to your

benifit.

I got one of those but I have to calibrate it and have been too lazy to see how to do that. Also it's too big for my terrariums, I was planning on eventually devoting a whole room to growing.

just a little calculator sized digital meter says what your humidity levels are

ive heard all types of ideas on creating humidity, like a fish tank heater in a mason jar

cranked up high to evaporate water fast, never tried it..

perlite soaked is more than enough humidity. I have an ultrasonic humidifier but I never use it cuz all it does is cause mold problems unless you can put it on a timer for 2-4 min per hour...

you want to mist but not soak, once there are pins you stop misting..
