Short shrooms on cased grain

I've cased(with straight vermiculite) 2 pans of popcorn and 1 pan of wbs. One of the popcorns grew huge shrooms and lots of them. But the other 2 pans grew these little 1 inch shrooms the veils broke and everything. Can somebody tell me what im doing wrong? Or what causes this to happen.

a few things can make this happen, shallow substrates, too many competing strains within one pan, common with multispore, haploid mycelium, etc.

Ya cherry is right, if you cross tw strains in the same pan you get microshrooms if they don't clamp together since they are all individual networks trying to reproduce instead of one big network....I would also look at temps and humidity. I did get a bunch of albinos one time that didn't cross well mixing PF albino and PE, did get one albino penis though....but ya, I would just keep trying, though I haven't had that happen in a long time

were they from the same print or culture? could be the genetics
