Ahoy all.

This is a blast from the past. The last time I mixed up some BRF was about 10 years ago. Quite abundant at the time.
So, now I've rekindled the flame.

I have 2 crates full of fully myc. jars. No contamination...all pure white goodness.

1 crate is Kho Samui
1 crate is PE

BRF, vermic, straw, water, pressure cooked, filter discs, etc.

I remember back in the day that pins developed inside the jars and even squished themselves against the glass if they were not put into the growing chambers in time.

From what I am reading on these forums is that the cakes get put into the chambers...and then they pin and fruit. Is that correct?

So, is that my problem? Most of the jars have been fully myc. for over 4 weeks now. No pins.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, Thank you.

When you expose fully colonized jars to light, they pin, however fruiting invitro (in the jar) doesn't work best for me though I had a few jars of GT that recently did....so I would birth em and fan/mist,etc....PE probably wont fruit well invitro cuz of the CO2 but the other may....light is #1, humidity #2, so put those babies in the fc, though I would crumble a few and mix with 50% poo and straw or poo and verm.....and then cover for three days cuz trays fruit a lot more than cakes....you are welcome to drop by shroomotopia.com if you need any more help.

Ok. I have 15 or so cakes in the FC. They are getting the ol' white fuzz. I like it. I found a couple jars that had some tissue growth with no pin head on them. FC is 80F with plenty of humidity. I have a jar of water with a fish tank bubbler in it to produce moisure in the FC. Works quite well. As soon as I have a product I'll attach a pic.
Thanks again for the info.

Your temps are too high! Drop it down to 72-75 and it'l pin, 80 is colonization temps, not fruiting temp.:D

As you said, lower the temp. Excellent. Thank you. worked quite well. Been fanning multiple times/day and keeping the humidity up as well.
I am used to the cake form, however I've been crumbling the cakes lately and it seems as though they colonized quickly and fruit more. How agressive should I crumble these cakes? Big chunks? Or smaller pieces?
Thanks AD for all your help!
I am having trouble uploading pics. I can assure you they are choice pics.

Thanks,
O.H.

the finer you crumble the cakes the better.
you can even slice them like bread if you want.
you can even case the cakes in a tub whole if you want lol
have fun :)

Thanks Dizz. I have been crubling them finer now. And the slices...never thought of that, however will try that. Thank you.
The crumbles I've laid in pie pans have been plentiful. I'd post pics, but when I take a pic in low resolution on my camera, this forum still says it's too big. What's the remedy to that. I like seeing other peoples pics. I wanna share mine.

Thanks again,
O.H.

to the op: cubes will fruit invitro if you allow them to stay in the jar long enough however, if you birth them and place them in the fc prior to invitro pinning and expose them to light, rh and fae they will pin. fae is the biggest factor in pinning. most think it is light however, that has been debunked.

Fresh air exchange eh? Let me ask u this....I am gonna be humidifying my cakes/cases (not sure yet) with an ultrasonic humidifier. This has an inbuilt pre-heater to kill bacteria and spores that may be in the water before it is atomised by the ultrasonic element and pumped out as humid air. That said, I am not sure if the output of the humidifier (which I can only imagine is air driven) will pump sufficient air into the chamber to eliminate the need for fanning. Just to add, I DO plan on drilling some Co2 drainage holes near the bottom of the chamber. Anyone have experience with an ultrasonic?

If you are going to do bulk grows I would suggest using a monotub.

I wouldn't know what a montub was if I had one sitting on my face, will have to Google that. plus, I'm not growing bulk...I just want to do it right :)
