I had to throw out my first attempt of shrooms after birthing the cakes only to see the pretty myc over run with what I guess was mold that smelled like yeast which eventually turned black and gray and ugly:eek::eek:Started anew with Cambodian strain and sterilized my substrate, and innoculated the jars yesterday. First time I used miracle-gro perlite because that was all Lowes had. Was hard to see the myc because the perlite was white and I didnt know what all miracle-gro had added to it. I found vermiculite at a farmers seed store and used that for this second bunch. Using the container-n-container method with a aquarium heater in the bottom one and my seven jars in the top. I want to keep this whole process simple but productive. When do you know if you have enuf myc to birth the cakes? Is a month the amount of time I have to wait for something to happen? I had hoped to have shrooms by now but having had to restart the process puts me behind the powerball. Thanks in advance for whatever you can tell me.
