Few basic question? cooling time, steaming..

Iv just begun a few jars to be turning into cakes, but becasue i was rushed during doing them, i didnt have the time to let them cool....is 2 hours a decent time? or did i kill all my spores?

also i have a humidifier for the closet, where their being kept...should i use it? and can they sit at the bottom of a plastic drawer...wondering considering co2 or anything...

also when i steamed them i didnt have the lids loose. what all need to be steralized in the pot?(i mean the parts of the jar...)

two hours is not long enough. Once sterilized properly they can be left around almost indefinitely. Its the best to leave them 24 hours. Even when the outside seems cool at the center it may be hot them when you incubate and seal the jar the spore will die quickly.
