Hi guys, I wanted to share this with anyone who might not know about it yet. This thing is a fluid injector for meat, like whole turkeys, etc. The thing about it is you can find it at TARGET for cheap, and they have been found in some dollar stores as well.

This thing is just like a syringe, however its much bigger, the needle is fatter and this allows for the thick mycellium culture to be more easily sucked into the chamber and then out again. Normal cleaning procedures apply, I soak the needle in 91% iso alcohol for a minute between jars.

Only 70% is used for sterilization.

I believe they are called "Marinade Injector[s]" for those who want to do a google search.

There is an all stainless steel one, which I'm sure is auto-clavable.

Only 70% is used for sterilization.

90% is used also, there is no difference... Either way when you soak/clean something with alcohol, the alcohol will evaporate quickly so when it drys whats left is 100% sterile, and alcohol free.

70% works better because alcohol needs water to work propperly, when dealing with live cells.

Well I have no idea which works better, but I have used both with 100% success. I've also used 50% which is the cheapest, and it also worked fine.

the hole on the flavor injectors are on the side of the needle, other than that it works fine :)

90% alcohol works just the same as 70% ethanol. no difference, 90-100% ethanol will allow extremophiles to grow on surfaces thats all.. and thats ethanol not alcohol.
but 90% alcohol is totally ok.
