i bought a kit like a year ago and could not start it til now. it didnt come with instructions or a video like it said, so i emailed them. they sent a flash animation video to the email i used to order, but i lost the video and email account. the website wont send me a video to my new address, so now i need to know what to do. it came with a container, wheat straw, and 2 bags one with A special mix of PH buffered soil and one with Six litres of Magic Mushroom spawning mycelium custom cubensis strain selected for potency & yield. thats what the web site said. i dont remember to much from the video. i know it said i have to boil the straw (i cant remember how long) and let it dry (i cant remember how long). it said to do this again and im pretty sure it gave different times but i dont remember. next, it said to cover the straw with the stuff from one of the bags (dont know what one) and let it sit for about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. then it said to put the stuff from the other bag into the container but i dont know if i shoud mix it. and then let it sit again for about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. i think it mentioned something about keeping it moist too. basiclly, i need to know if these are the right steps, and some of the details that i forgot. can someone please send me in the right direction

hey buy your self a mushroom gro book the mushroom cultivator is like a bible to me some problems i see from what you have posted
1 never boil straw you have to pasturise it for 30 45 min
2 dont mix the dirt with the straw
3 dont do any thing till you buy a book or more research the shroomery is a well establishe site with lots of info
4 where did you get the kit from

i would have to agree with spanki. pasteurize the straw. the ph buffered soil that came with your kit is most likely casing soil.
you also stated that the kit came with mycelium. if you bought the kit a year ago and it came with a live mycelium culture its deffinately no longer viable.
hope this helps

The mycellium will be fine if kept in the right conditions. You will want to pasteurize the straw for around 1-2 hours, some people I know pasturize upwards of 24 hours. 30-40 mins just seems to short to me.

Ya, I would do some reading. Shroomotopia is small enough that you can find all the teks without having to sort through 6000 pages of bullsh!t that noobs who don't know their ass from their elbow have posted as facts. Shroomery is cool once you know youur shit. There are too many rude losers over there who jump on anyone who asks a simple question. At shroomotopia.com it is the opposite, everyone active is there to help and we even have spores for those without at no charge. So stop by and we can walk you through it. Then come and post your grow log here so this site can get growing too as well as ST. This is a well set up forum, just doesn't have that much easily accessible info pertaining to growing. It will in time. I will start copying teks and posting em here as soon as I get a lil time to settle down as a thank you for not caring about me plugging the site.

you can always use vermiculite+brown rice+brown sugar and just steralize it in a pressure cooker

you don't need the brown sugar, actually I have never heard that before.
2parts ver 1 part brown rice flour 1 part water...mix well and when you squeeze in your hand only a few drops should come out...mix well and PC for 60-90min at 15psi...
but sugar...too much and it will ruin it...like if an lc is more then 10% sugar (karo corn syrup) it wont grow yet 4% is best though that isn't for the best LC thou.
