Short Shrooms

Hi, I'm on my first time growing and have several strains in various stages. I've got ecuadorian, pink buffalo, PF strain, Huatlan, and Hawaiian, ranging from fully-colonized jars to their last stage of fruiting. my first set of fruiting cakes seem to have small/short mushrooms at the flush.

Can anyone advise what the problem might be? i want to try to fix it so I dont ruin my other harvests.

Also, any tips on increasing yeild as a whole while still using the PF Tek method of jars/cakes/perlite?

Last, am I correct when I read that i need to take 20-25 grams of fresh mushrooms to have a level 3 trip? Thats like 20-30 of these little things I'm growing, so I'm getting about 1 trip out of every 5-10 cakes, which I think is a problem.

Last, Im pretty proud (or lucky)to say that as a newbie, I've only had 2 contaminations in about 40 jars, and those were because my tek wasnt specific about something. iId be happy to share my techniques if anyone is interested, its a combination of teks I've read. Holla, thanks.

By all means, share your teckniques....This is an older thread so I can only assume youve learned to guage your doses....personaly for first time tripping I would sujest starting with lower doses....say 6 to 10 grams wet and go from there....especialy if sharing mushies with other first time trippers....but thats just me/my opinion.:)

When I am using grains (pop corn), I shoot 12cc of 3% peroxide into the jar and shake it well just before dumping an agar chunk into it. Also never had problems with contams.

The most common reason for short / small mushrooms is that the cake is not hydrated well enough or doesn't have alot of nutrients. Did you use the dunk and roll tek? if not i highly suggest that you do next time. You still can now, all you need to do is pull all pins / mushrooms off then dunk the cakes in a large pot of water over night and then roll in dry verm. Search youtube for Let's grow mushrooms part 3, at 6 mins RR ( RogerRabbit ) explains the dunk and roll tek.

I have had PF albinos be small and the APE is a small shroom , however excess CO2 can stunt growth if they are sensetive, FAE is needed mostly, Moisture is also an issue as well as the size of the substrate as well. Dunking isn't needed on the 1st flush but all others after you will need to replace the water.
