hey guys im new to the forum but i really enjoy mushrooms almost to the point where i misspelled "really" :P
now people have been telling me(keep in mind that these people have no experience with mushrooms) that taking mushrooms or acid(obviously two completly diffrent drugs) will cause you brain to bleed.
now i have never been someone to take things at point face value so i went home and started researching this, and so far i have not found one piece of evidence to support the statement that mushrooms cause your brain to bleed.
i would love to get some replies supporting or contradicting this myth.
if you are going to condradict it would you please take the time to find some paperwork somewhere on the internet supporting this.
thank you all for your time
yours truely

Ya actually shrooms are harmless unless you are a stupid 19 yr old american chick who jumps out a window or off a bridge and ruins it for everyone...No one ever points out that person was fuct before they ate the shrooms and really shouldn't have?

I found a link that you might want to read about the most common side effects of shroom usage. It is a reply to a similar question on another forum.

Abusing them to the point where your doing them all the time does have one side effect that I am aware of, Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder or HPPD, From the WiKi; a disorder characterized by a continual presence of visual disturbances that are reminiscent of those generated by the ingestion of hallucinogenic substances. Previous use of hallucinogens is needed, though not sufficient, for diagnosing someone with the disorder. For an individual to be diagnosed with HPPD, the symptoms cannot be due to another medical condition. HPPD is distinct from flashbacks by reason of its relative permanence; while flashbacks are transient, HPPD is persistent.
In other words you went to another dimension and you never made it back!!! Living in the a world that exists only within your mind. . .
It's the same with any substance, you go abusing it and not treating it with the respect it deserves and yes you too could develope HPPD, ask an HPPD sufferer if he would consider doing shrooms again and the answer would be a resounding NO!
I hear its like being on a trip, but your on it all the time, from the moment you wake up till the moment you go to sleep.. Not cool.
But thats just like anything, if you go dropping hundreds of tabs of acid on a daily basis, your trip to the funny farm is assured!:(
"Their coming to take me away, hee-hee, ha-ha, ho-ho!" when you start hearing voices and seeing things that arnt really there its safe to conclude;
"u'r fuct!"and theres nothing spiritual or magical about it. :p

yeah you have to abuse shrooms pretty ridiculously in order to get "permafried"
same with acid. especially if you are doing tons of hallucinogenics while still developing (teenagers). as for brain bleeding? total bullshit. it's another one of those things people make up to keep people away from drugs.
ya, way to bump an old topic...

I've never heard of active mushrooms making your brain bleed. A brain hemorrhage is a type of stroke. It’s caused by an artery in the brain bursting and causing localized bleeding in the surrounding tissues. This bleeding kills brain cells. This will cause permanent brain damage, and usually death. bleeding in the brain always caused by physical damage (concussion, Aneurysm). Psilocybin is rapidly dephosphorylated in the body to psilocin which then acts as a partial agonist at the 5-HT2A serotonin receptor in the brain where it mimics the effects of serotonin (5-HT). Psilocin is an 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A/2C agonist - wikipedia. Basically, Psilobybin opens the flood gates to your serotonin reservoir, no physical damage.
ya, this was an old thread, we all know shrooms are harmless...

marijuana also gets you high because it starves your brain of oxygen.
lol, nah people believe stupid shit their told that's why drugs are illegal in the first place, if someone tells you something, don't trust them and find out for yourself. ecstasy puts holes in your brain, marijuana gives you cancer, and makes you turn into a bloodthirsty murderer. I mean the things people will believe about drugs... It's brainwash, they want you to conform so they spread propaganda have you seen anti-weed commercials that's fucking brainwashing, every time i see them I'm like "fuck weed makes people lazy and stupid, pfft stoners" then I'm like, wait "FUCK YOU TV I SMOKE MARIJUANA!" :)
[EDIT] Just to clarify, yes all of these in bold are untrue myths about drugs, all of them even the ecstasy one, however it is widely believed because people are fucking retarded.

Ok lets break this down...In our brains, when our soul enters our body, there is a molecule that is formed and placed into the center of the brain...
It is called dimethyltriptamine...now...there are 2 off shoots of this molecule...
5-ho-dmt and 5-meo-dmt, those 2 things make up dmt...
Now what does this have to do with mushrooms?
5-HO-DMT is psylocin, thats what psylicybin breaks down to in your body...so if that is already in our brains, everytime we sleep, and all during our lives....how could mushrooms possibly make your brain bleed?
DMT and its cousins are so similar to the serotonin molecule its crazy...
I see someone already explained this but I thought id elaborate more...
It doesn't make your brain bleed, that is a myth, however the extasy comment made above is untrue, extasy does put holes in your brain, not actual holes but dead zones on a MRI...where there is no longer any brain activity where there was supposed to be, so ex is bad...shrooms are harmless

Actually that was a smear campaign much like the one being used to make many other drugs illegal (marijuana, mushrooms), they have done laboratory testing that proved that the dose of ex required to make any area of the brain stop being active would be extremely deadly, small doses even over long periods of time showed absolutely no difference in the performance and intelligence, and MRI's confirmed no dead zones. Now yes it's bad for you, I never said do Ex it's good for you, I mean their not Flintstones vitamins, but don't believe the crap they put out there, the government wants drugs illegal, so that they can continue to be the one bringing them in... I mean it's a known fact the CIA smuggles drugs into our country.

From what I've read, this is not true. The real danger in shrooms is when you take poisonous shrooms. A lot of people make the mistake of trying shrooms that they see to see if they can get a high out of it.
