View Full Version : Birthing/fruiting questions...

My jars are finally 100% colonised and I'm ready to birth. I have a
few questions for the smarter out there:
1st: I'm birthing in one of those ice coolers... so the only way I
have to get light in is by putting some sort of artificial light in
there with the cakes. right now I have a little mag light that runs
off of 1 AAA rechargable battery. Do you think this will put out
enough light to initiate pinning?
2nd: What's the averagwe time it takes from the moment a jar is
birthed until you start seeing pins?
3rd: I have more jars than will fit in my container. How long can I
keep fully colonised jars stored before they die? Should I keep the
holes taped while in storage?
Thank for you help!

A light source in the cooler is not required, a few moments exposure
to any kind of light be it sunlight or torchlight is adequate to
initiate pinning

Depends on many variables; strain, temp, humidity etc.
Anywhere between 5-10 days for pinning to start, and maybe another
5-10 for whole shrooms to be up.

Keep holes taped, store in fridge, good for 4-6 weeks (possibly even
longer ) in this condition.
The process from taking your jars from where they are now to the
fridge or from the fridge to the birthing chamber, if done in
daylight, should be enough to induce pinning and also answer your
question 1.
